Hi Everyone – I’m Kari Simpson.
Having survived the raising of my 4 children during some of the most societal challenging of times I get asked often for parenting tips. One of the questions that is frequently asked involves “word crimes”, otherwise known as swearing or cussing. Well, you see, this coin eating machine is sometimes prominently displayed in our home. You can imagine that having a busy household of family, friends business associates and acquaintances that there might be the rare occasion where an individual or two might be inclined to use words that are illegal in our household. Now note I didn’t say forbidden. You see, swearing and cussing was never a big problem with my kids growing up. I am not that often inclined to swear and they weren’t. Sure, they tried to it on when they were younger. It didn’t fit. It wasn’t until recent years with the expanding family of relatives and their relatives and friends (mostly adults) that I found a need to have a tool of cussing dissuasion at my disposal. Thus I embraced the powerful tool of assigning financial penalty to those who committed word crimes. It has worked brilliantly. It goes like this, there are certain people in my life and that of our 7 grandchildren, that I love to bits but are inclined to occasionally use terms of expression that are deemed to be unacceptable. Most of the time the use is not intentional but nevertheless it happens. On these occasions when such words are spoken, and witnessed by the young impressionable minds and ears that are often about – well there has to be a consequence. Now don’t get me wrong. I am sure the public record demonstrates my complicity in this regard, and for that I have contributed a fair share of financial penance for the word crimes I have committed. Be assured though, that my usage is usually contextually acceptable. How can that be, you ask? Well sometimes you just have to damn well tell it like it is even if it is captured by my own house rules. Yes I committed a word crime! As for all those who visit and contribute to my grandchildren’s post secondary education, we thank you! |
Well, it’s that time of year. Most parents are eager for September to roll around. The back to school shopping signals the hope of routine, and for some the possibility of enjoying a quiet house for a few hours of the day.
As a mom to four – now healthy happy well-adjusted adults – the weeks leading up to the launching of a new school year, though years ago, are still emblazoned in my brain. The long lists of who needed what – and the whats changed every year depending on the grade.
Yep, back to school check lists were typically long and expensive and kept evolving. Today’s checklist reflects the technological changes and can now demand laptops, memory sticks and other wired toys and tools that go along with those lead free pencils and environmentally considered paper products. Special clothing, lunch boxes and earthquake survival kits are a must for some school checklists.
But the most important educational tool that every successful student will require and must be included in everyone’s checklist is you, the parent, and I mean acting like a parent and not just a name on a birth certificate.
If you love your children – and take your parenting responsibilities seriously – then you have a duty to be involved and informed. The public education system is fraught with ideological dangers that will adversely affect your children and family if they are left vulnerable. You are their protection. You are their shield.
Here’s the deal, and yes I am going to dump on the public education system and rightly so. Sure, there are a lot of good teachers in the system; they know who they are and they will applaud this message. There are also a lot of well-intentioned teachers who are easily manipulated. Then there’s those okay teachers who know the system is facilitating the propagation of junk science, outright lies about human sexuality, and anti-family cultural Marxist ideals, but place their jobs ahead of your child’s best interest and engage in rationalizing their silence and acquiescence by falsely believing that your child’s brief interaction with them will counteract all the bull shit that is being delivered into the classrooms of Canada.
They are wrong in that belief. Then there are the clearly bad teachers, so-called professionals that purposefully abuse their roll as a teacher to indoctrinate your child – your son or daughter – with a political agenda, misinformation and societal views that are contrary to the beliefs and ideals of most civil hard-working Canadians and the realities around us.
As a parent you are your child’s protector. Act like it. Parents, do not be regulated to a status of irrelevancy. You are your child’s most important educator. Yes, a good teacher can facilitate a portion of your son’s or daughter’s education but their roll is NOT a partnership. You as a parent delegate your authority for only a small portion of your child’s learning and as “delegator” you should oversee the job of the individual and judge if they are doing a good job or not.
Shame on you if you have organized your life in a fashion that makes your schedule too busy to be involved in the education of your child. I got news for you: that’s not organization! Double shame if you don’t want to offend the teacher by requiring them to be accountable.
The good news here is that more and more parents are becoming informed and involved. I see from the recent released stats from the BC Ministry of Education that enrolment in the public schools is down by a significant 68,000 students from 2001. Yep, more and more parents are opting out of the public indoctrination system. Most parents I speak to would enrol their children in a private school in a heartbeat if they had the money to do so. So for those whose children are forced to brave the “system”, here are a few more items to add to that back to school checklist:
1. Make yourself known to your children’s teachers and administration. You know, the “Hi, I want to introduce myself. I’m Katherine’s mom…”
2. Call the principal or send them an email. Make contact!
3. Let the teaching and administration staff know that if there is ever a problem involving your child – good or bad – that you welcome their call.
4. Make you presence and your values known in the school.
5. Ask questions. Does this school respect parental rights and invite parental involvement?
6. Ask the teacher how he or she will inform you about guests speaking to the kids. Programs like “Roots of Empathy” bring social workers into the schools and ask prying questions about your families.
7. Ask what kind of sex abuse prevention programs the teacher is going to be relying upon. I raise this as an important lesson. The schools sometime adopt programs of convenience to meet requirements, and severe damage has resulted to some families as a result.
8. Engage your children in conversations. Ask them about what is happening in
their classroom.
9. Government-proof your kids – Teach your children about what is acceptable information to talk with outsiders and the difference between private family matters and general information.
10. Give your children the tools to not speak to social workers. “I don’t have to talk to you. Talk to my mom or dad.”
11. Teach your children about what is an appropriate discussion topic in the classroom vs. what isn’t. Give your children praise when they identify discussions that are anti-family or contrary to your family’s values.
12. Tell your children that not all teachers will respect their rights, that some teachers can be bullies and that you as your child’s parent will deal with them if they have a problem.
13. Equip your kids with wisdom. They will be confronted with having to make decisions about a lot of things in their schools – including being recruited to participate in vaccination programs for sexually transmitted diseases. They will be told they don’t need your permission. Give them the tools to say NO and to let you know when this takes place.
14. Don’t let issues at the school slide by. Take a proactive stance. Find out if in your school your son or daughter will be exposed to pro-homosexual and other sex activist propaganda. Advise the school administration that you won’t allow a political agenda to be used in the school. If a teacher is sporting the political rainbow flag or colours, say no. Same thing for the “day of Silence”.
15. Be resourceful. There are a number of excellent parenting groups and resources available to you on the Internet or by phone, including us here at Culture Guard.
16) I will end this by saying the most import item on this checklist is the knowledge that as parents You are the most important and influential people in your child’s life and the ones who are ultimately responsible for your child’s well being. Become informed and stay aware, but most importantly love your kids enough to show them that you are a savvy and courageous parent that loves them enough to be involved in their lives and to do battle on their behalf if necessary.

August 21, 2012 (RKR News)—RoadKill Radio, a feisty free-speech, pro-life and pro-family North American news and public affairs Internet site that has now posted more than three million on-line hits, announced today that they have successfully quashed attempts by a convicted sex offender to silence them.
Earlier this month, a registered sex offender convicted for sexually abusing a minor male persuaded Vimeo, the on-line hosting service used by RoadKillRadio.com, to take down more than 200 videos produced by RKR; he alleged that one video, a news report about his million-dollar lawsuit against Brian Camenkar of MassResistance—a pro-truth organization in Massachusetts—was “discriminatory” and violated a fraudulently obtained restraining order he possessed.
When Vimeo received the sex offender’s complaint, they quickly took down that RKR interview—only informing RoadKill Radio after the fact.
RKR General Manger, Jim Lawter appealed to Vimeo, asking them to clarify their position; but there was initially no response from Vimeo. Then, when RKR uploaded a new, updated interview with Camenkar, Vimeo accused RKR of “re-posting” a deleted video (which was untrue) and further notified RKR that they had reviewed other videos and found them to be in “violation of section 7 of the terms and conditions of their contract.” Vimeo went on to advise RKR that all of their videos had been removed, and RoadKill Radio would be prohibited from renewing their contract with them.
RKR News host and free speech warrior Kari Simpson is no stranger to the tactics of lies and misinformation used by sex activists to manipulate the gay-dumb media to pander to the sex activists’ agenda. Unlike most civil-minded Canadians, who typically wither and retreat, Simpson fired off a letter to the American run corporation Vimeo demanding that they honour their contract; RKR then retained Charles LiMandri, a respected American lawyer who is a noted defender of the law and the Constitution’s protection of free speech. Mr. LiMandri sent a follow-up demand to Vimeo.
RoadKill Radio General Manager Jim Lawter said the news site’s efforts to reverse the deletion were materially helped by two important news services: LifeSite News and Sun News Network ; and by RoadKill Radio’s global network of fans and supporters. Further, by Brian Camenkar of Mass Resistance who courageously posted the video interview on his website after Vimeo removed it. Lawter states: “We have been overwhelmed by the response and support generated by this important free speech battle. Clearly, Sun News Network and LifeSite News are crucial news agencies that have filled the information gap created by a lazy conventional media that is either clueless or too cowardly to report about important matters affecting our freedoms and liberties.”
Lawter added, “As far as we can determine, those were the only news outlets in all of Canada that had the journalistic integrity and courage to stand up to the bullies and report the truth.”
Early this morning Charles S. LiMandri advised RoadKill Radio that Vimeo had reversed their decision and restored all of RoadKill Radio’s videos, which can again be viewed at RoadKillRadio.com; and further, that they will honour the renewed contract they have with RKR.
It is a good day for truth.

Thank you for your email of today’s date and the opportunity to clarify this matter, now that we know a bit more about the nature of the complaint made by Mr. Flanders.
Be advised that it is our position that we have not violated Section 7 of Vimeo’s Terms of Service. Please advise us as to what videos you deem to have breached such terms and indicate the words or actions you rely upon for such assertions. I trust upon your review, from a legal perspective, that you will reconsider your actions in breaching our contract with you.
It is most troubling for you to assert in any way that our videos contain hateful, defamatory, or discriminatory content. The allegation itself is at best defamatory; moreover your accusations asserting that the content of our videos incite hatred against individuals and/or groups is equally disturbing. Your conducts, resulting from these very serious accusations, are actionable.
Exposing the truth about individuals and political agendas harmful to children does not violate your terms. Such reports are legitimately in the category of “news and commentary”, similar to what may be found in most newspapers and/or broadcast news, and as such are protected under the First Amendment.
In your response to Mr. Lawter, you have attached an order that was fraudulently obtained by a troubled young man named —- Flanders. Mr. Flanders is a registered sex offender, and seeks to silence and undermine organizations that report truthful accounts on matters relating to his convictions and activities. Vimeo is not the first Internet-related company to be targeted by Mr. Flanders; numerous lawyers involved with this matter can provide an informed history of this individual.
You should also be advised that once the public and the judge found out what Mr. Flanders was up to, his activities were curtailed.

It is a sad commentary on progressive politics that Vimeo has fallen victim to the complaint made by Flanders, a typical but old and common tactic used by sex activists to silence those who expose their lies. You would be wise in the future to check your facts before reacting in such a precipitous and harmful manner.
In your email you make a number of factual errors. Firstly, our account is not available to us contrary to your assertion. Our attempt to recover our videos was made impossible by your deletion of them. Secondly, you falsely claim that we uploaded the same video that was previously removed on July 20, 2012 and “wilfully violated Vimeo’s terms of service.” This is untrue. We conducted a second interview as a follow-up, produced a new show about the continuing antics of Mr. Flanders and uploaded the newly produced video.
You should also be aware that everyday you fail to meet your contractual obligations we suffer harm to our credibility and reputation. Please advise us as to whether or not our videos are recoverable. You have destroyed our capacity to facilitate our not for profit activities and ability to act as public advocates by the deletion of more the 200 videos – our copyrighted property.
It might also interest you to know that we invited Mr. Flanders to appear on RoadKill Radio. He declined.
I hope legal action in this matter will not be necessary, and that Vimeo will look closely at what has transpired here and reconsider honouring your contracted, paid-for, service by restoring our videos forthwith, adhering to and honouring your contractual obligations with us. Month after month—and in some cases week after week—Rafe Mair’s malicious tirades against Kari Simpson were blasted across the airwaves, and trumpeted from the pages of newspapers and Internet blogs.
Let me read some examples—and show how false they were:
• May 8, 1997, Rafe said, “I received a letter from her accusing me of being in favour of throwing young boys’ bodies to the tender mercies of predatory males…” He repeated this accusation at least six times.
The Fact: Kari’s letter asked—rhetorically—“I trust that upon your read of this that you will understand that the agenda far and exceeds the fluff; but then again, maybe you believe 13-year-old boys enjoy giving their bodies to men in exchange for frivolity.” The question was accompanied by a reprint of an article in Xtra West alleging that the boys in the Maple Leaf Gardens scandal willingly exchanged sexual favours for hockey tickets.
Rafe is a writer; he knows the difference between a rhetorical question and an accusation. But he chose to ignore that distinction, and make a false accusation of his own.
• Dec. 8, 1997, Rafe stated that Kari’s “motivations seem to come from the Reverend Jerry Falwell and the Moral Majority.”
The fact: Kari informed Rafe that, although she had heard Falwell’s name, she’d never heard him speak, nor read anything he wrote. Yet Rafe continued to link Kari’s name to Falwell’s.
• Dec. 11, 1997, Rafe said, “I have no idea whether or not she is anti-semitic; I don’t think she is, though; and I’ve never said she is, and I have no reason to say that she is. But, you know, there is an old saying which has resonance: ‘You look like a crow, call like a crow and nest with crows, chances are you’re a crow.’ I have no doubt that if Jerry Falwell, an admitted gay-basher and a demonstrable anti-semite, were to come to this area, that the people who support Kari Simpson’s stand on homosexuality would flock to hear him…”
The facts: Kari is provably NOT an anti-semite. But by alleging that Falwell is an anti-semite and anti-gay, and falsely linking Kari’s name to his, Rafe uses “guilt by association”—an association that never existed—to vilify her reputation.
At the very least, that’s yellow journalism; at the worst, it’s malicious defamation, and promoting hatred and contempt. Defamation is either an actionable civil offence, or a crime, or both—unless the legal brotherhood protects you.
Kari told Rafe—in the same letter that he mis-quotes as an accusation of pedophile sympathies, so we know he read it—that “I am no moral Puritan, but I am informed; my involvement in this difficult issue results from a concern based in fact, not ignorance nor bigotry.” Yet Rafe declared “this is a religious war, not educational.”
• Feb. 8, 1988, Rafe made reference to “Kari Simpson’s fundamentalists…”
The facts: What does Rafe mean by “fundamentalist”? Who knows? He simply uses the word as a pejorative. It actually refers to an intellectual defence of Biblical Christianity mounted by a group of scholars at Princeton University before the First World War. No one has ever demonstrated a link between Kari Simpson and fundamentalism—but that didn’t seem to matter to Rafe, when an easy slur was close at hand.
• Oct. 24, 1999, Rafe wrote (online): “What the likes of Kari Simpson—whose mind is so narrow it’s as invisible as electricity—want us to believe is that the words ‘homosexual’ and pedophile are synonymous…”
The fact: This is simply an outright lie: Kari has never equated homosexuality and pedophilia. Never. And Rafe has never been able to produce any defence of this accusation. And he never will be able to, because it’s untrue.
• Oct. 25, 1999, Rafe Mair opened his program by saying, “I really hate to give Kari Simpson any more publicity—something she soaks up like a blotter—but she’s become such a menace, I really think something must be said…”
After listing a number of civil rights successes Kari brought to Rafe’s radio program, Rafe said, “I listened to the tape of the parents’ meeting… where Kari harangues the crowd.”
Not “spoke to”, but “harangued”. Note how Rafe puts a spin on every sentence, by the language he chooses. He continued: “… in my minds eye I could see Governor Wallace of Alabama, standing on the steps of a school-house, shouting to the crowds that ‘no nigras’ would get into Alabama schools as long as he was governor.”
The facts: Assuredly, there is no need for me to point out the non-sequitur and the fallacy of trying to hang George Wallace’s racism on Kari Simpson; but for those who do not know her, let me assert that Kari—who grew up and went to school in a predominantly Black neighbourhood in California, and earned her fellow-students’ respect—does not have a racist bone in her body!
I’ve only cited six of more than 40 hate-inducing editorials Rafe Mair broadcast or wrote about Kari Simpson. I’m sure that by now, you get the degree of vicious intent. The important point is that those entrusted with the “bully pulpit” of the media have an ethical obligation not to abuse that power in a calculated campaign to manufacture a false reputation for anyone whose political influence they fear; and still less to pander to the economic powerhouse of the ‘gay’ lobby.
Repeatedly, Kari Simpson wrote him letters that proclaimed: “You’re wrong, Rafe!”—and provided him and his employers with evidence.
At one time, Rafe Mair’s producer had scheduled a debate between later became an NDP MLA, objected (according to Rafe’s producer, quoted in a court transcript):
“That would be like debating a white supremacist.”
He refused to debate Kari. So Rafe cancelled Kari, allowing Stevenson to go on the air unchallenged.
It was uncharacteristic of Rafe Mair, the award-winning broadcaster, to cow to the dishonest whim of a politician. But he did.
Yet Rafe and Kari certainly discussed the issue in detail: March 24, 1997, Kari was guest on a program which Rafe devoted entirely to discussion of the promotion of pro-homosexual education in the public schools. The NDP had just passed a resolution at its convention, calling for — quote — “the necessary curricular changes to promote the education of issues surrounding lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered youth.” Unquote.
That sentence is worth careful parsing. Notice that it does not call for comprehensive education of our children about homosexuality—that is, education that would not only argue for the human rights of GLBT persons, but would also inform students of the dire health and financial consequences of homosexual behaviour.
So what was the outcome of all Kari’s information and her corrections of misinformation? Come back next week.
