Years before Lori Douglas’ name was splattered across headlines, detailing unusual sexual proclivities and salacious pornographic tendencies, the Manitoba associate chief justice was an A-list Winnipeg family lawyer, ambitious and well-respected.
Douglas and her husband, Jack King, also a family lawyer, worked alongside each other at Thompson Dorfman Sweatman, one of the four so-called Trizec firms — named for a massive downtown office building at the intersection of Portage Ave. and Main St. — that dominate Winnipeg’s legal playing field.
